Welcome to HitItHere.net Home of R O T A T I O N A L H I T T I N G Instruction from Mike Epstein Certified Instructor Todd Thomas Bringing Hitters & Potential Together
Rotational Mechanics apply to Baseball and Softball hitters of all ages from t-ball to select travels teams to college and professional baseball. The Epstein Teaching System is based on the playing experience of nine year Major League Slugger Mike Epstein and his relationship with his friend and mentor, the game's greatest hitter, Ted Williams.
Linear mechanics severely limit a player's future in the game and the best players at the highest levels of the game DON'T use them.
Don't dip your back shoulder, swing down at the ball for backspin, hit the top half or third of the ball, throw your hands at the ball, keep the barrel above your hands or above the ball, keep your front elbow down.... Do the players below look like they are doing all or even one of those things? No, not really. Then don't you have to ask yourself... Why I am teaching those things to my players? Why am I being taught those things? Why am I allowing my son/daughter to be taught those things if the best players don't do them??? Why not learn to swing as the best players do?
More players never reach their potential because of a lack of quality instruction rather than a lack of ability."
Rod Dedeaux Legendary University of Southern California Baseball Coach NCAA Division I "Coach of the Century"
Many coaches/instructors(including many ex-professional players) don't teach rotational mechanics even though that is how they hit during their playing career. Usually it's because linear hitting is what they remember that they were taught when they were young. That's no excuse not to teach young players the most productive way to hit. Playing is one thing, but teaching is totally different. Coach Rod Dedeaux knew this to be true.
